PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE MS. OYU VASHA PRESENTS HER LETTER OF CREDENTIALS TO MS. ARMIDA SALSIAH ALISJAHBANA, EXECUTIVE SECRETARY OF THE UNITED NATIONS ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COMMISSION FOR ASIA AND THE PACIFIC
On 22 July 2026, H.E. Ms. Oyu Vasha, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) presented her Letter of Credentials to the Executive Secretary of UNESCAP Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana.
Ambassador and Permanent Representative Oyu Vasha expressed satisfaction with the current state of cooperation between Mongolia and UNESCAP and exchanged views with the Executive Secretary on specific areas and issues for further collaboration with the Commission. Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana expressed appreciation for Mongolia’s active participation in the work of UNESCAP and reaffirmed the Commission’s readiness to cooperate closely with the Government of Mongolia and provide support and assistance in all relevant areas. During the meeting Madame Executive Secretary confirmed her participation together with representatives of the Commission to the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in Ulaanbaatar from August 17 to 28, 2026, and exchanged views on preparations for the Conference.
UNESCAP is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations. Its Executive Secretary oversees the regional secretariat, drive development strategies, and facilitate diplomatic cooperation across the Asia-Pacific. The Commission provides an intergovernmental platform for dialogue on a broad range of regional economic and social policy issues, promotes cooperation among its member States, and conducts policy analysis and research while providing policy recommendations. It also implements technical cooperation programmes aimed at strengthening the human resources and institutional capacities of its developing member States.
