THIS WEEK IN MONGOLIA

Summary of this week's events:

August 25-31. The Capital Governor's Office is organizing a trade fair for the new academic year in 18 locations of Ulaanbaatar, such as the Independence Square, ASA Circus, and the Prime Minister B. Tserendorj’s Square.

August 28. - The Minister of Mongolia J. Sukhbaatar will brief media on short and medium term tasks under implementation to reduce Ulaanbaatar traffic congestion.

- "Government efficiency, evaluation and monitoring" discussion will be held at the Novotel Hotel at 09.30am. Chief Cabinet Secretary D. Amarbayasgalan will take part in the discussion.      

- Irregular session of the National Policy Committee of the Democratic Party will be held at the Corporate Convention Center at 12.00am.

- Miray Travel Company, Scout Association of Mongolia, Mongolian Scout Union, Confederation of Mongolian Journalists will brief media on the charity campaign "Let's Leave Fascinating Memories" devoted to children and teachers of the Orphanage Center Unur Bul at the Mongol News Information Center.        

August 29. VII Session of Mongolia-United States Joint Trade and Investment Committee will be held in Ulaanbaatar.

August 29 - September 2. European-Mongolian jazz orchestra of young musicians will perform in Ulaanbaatar and Darkhan as part of the Blue Sky Messengers Project. Young artists from France, Austria, Denmark, Germany and Mongolia will perform in this event and present their skills that incorporate the cultural characteristics of their countries. The performance will take place:

                 • On August 29, the Beatles Square in Ulaanbaatar,

                 • On August 30, the Philharmonic of Mongolia,

                 • August 31-September 2, at "Fat Cat Jazz Club".

August 30. A regular meeting of the Government will be held.

September 1-4. The Head of State of the Holy See Pope Francis will pay a State Visit to Mongolia at the invitation of the President of Mongolia. The following is the program of this visit:

September 1. The Head of State of the Holy See Pope Francis will arrive at Chinggis Khaan International Airport.

September 2.

• A ceremony of official welcoming of the Head of State of the Holy See Pope Francis

• The President of Mongolia U. Khurelsukh and the Head of State of the Holy See Pope Francis will have an official meeting

• The Head of State of the Holy See Pope Francis will hold a meeting with representatives of the state, government, civil society and diplomatic missions.

• Speaker of the Parliament G. Zandanshatar will pay a courtesy call on Head of State Pope Francis.

• Prime Minister L. Oyun-Erdene to pay a courtesy call on the Head of State of the Holy See Pope Francis.  

• The Head of State of the Holy See Pope Francis will meet with archbishops, priests and religious figures.

September 3.

• The Head of State of the Holy See Pope Francis will hold an interfaith meeting.

• The Head of State of the Holy See Pope Francis will hold a pilgrimage.

September 4.

• The Head of State of the Holy See Pope Francis will meet with benefactors.

• There will be a farewell ceremony for The Head of State of the Holy See Pope Francis.

September 1. - The opening of the New School Year 2023-2024 will be held across the country.

 - The National Statistics Office will start organizing the "Environment Safety Survey" for the first time in Mongolia. Data collection will continue until November 10, 2023 and will cover 8,000 households.

- "Everybody Loves You" performance will be premiered on the stage of the Cultural Center of the Mongolian Trade Unions.

September 1-3. Chinese Film Days will be held at Tengis Cinema. 

• "Nomadic World-2 (2023), Director Guofan

• Create a Miracle (2022), Director Wen Mu-Yee

• Explosion (2021), Director Lijun

• “White Snake-2” (2021), Director Huang Jiakang

• Contemporary Chinese movies such as "The Level of the Milky Way" (2022), Director Ar Dongsheng, will be free of charge.

- "FOTCIENCIA" or science-themed photography exhibition will be held on August 23-September 15 at Norway Art Gallery.

-Registration for the first competition of the "Ulemjiin chanar" international competition of singers will continue until September 8 on the website www.ulemjiinchanar.org.

• First round will be held in Ulaanbaatar on September 18-22.

• Second round will be held in Sainshand on October 11-13
